Emotional Intelligence IQ Starts Early
Can people really be taught how to control their intelligence or cultivate a behavior reaction that might be contrary to their emotional makeup? This may sound like a strange concept. Studies have shown that emotions are generally subjective. As individuals we have our own way of reacting to outside stimulus.
Studies have been conducted under controlled test environments, which prove that our emotions are as varied as our personalities. Because we all experience different histories that make up our emotional health thus shaping our character.
Genetic factors are also very important and are developed in our prenatal stages. Such as the color of our hair or eyes, all of which are coded in our genes. Our intellect is formed in this way also. The basics of our intelligence are a factor that cannot be altered. However, one can maximize the intelligence quotient already present.
When we are speaking of emotional intelligence we are dealing with different variables. They are in a constant flux of change as they respond and react to stimuli outside ourselves. Emotions run through the very fiber of our being.
Emotions intensify as we go through the growing up process from infancy to adulthood. Take for example the first steps of a toddler who has no fear of failure as he has not learned the response yet of falling and tripping. An already mature sense of emotions may have kept him from ever trying. As we mature our emotional intelligence is a learned response from past encounters that stuck with us. If these emotional responses cause negative behavior patterns, one can be taught how to properly use emotional intelligence.
Teaching it in the early stages of development would increase the chances of becoming healthy emotionally. We must learn how to identify emotional states.
Being able to correlate the link between action and thought. Then learn how to manage our emotions.
In this manner we can best determine how to direct our emotions in the most effective way. Lastly harnessing our emotions should be done with the attitude it can be accomplished and we are not subject to every out of control emotion that may carry us away.
This is a very positive method to approach conquering emotions in a healthy and productive way. By learning how to be cognoscente of our emotions we learn as well how to be sensitive to others.
By learning this we can sustain a sense of harmony while interacting with others.
