Getting Rid Of That Burr That’s Under That Saddle Of Your’sAnd Start Living A Grudge Free Life

Getfree of the burr under your saddle! Hello I’m Eddie Lawrence and I spend a lot of time developing sermon outlines and free sermon outlines for pastors and Bible teachers. It is part of the preacher’s life to communicate things with people that will help enhance their lives. This article deals with the proverbial burr under the saddle that can trigger you to get thrown and possibly to get wounded in life.

So what does this analogy refer to in relation to our day by day lives? The burr is that chip on your shoulder. Sorry, I couldn’t help it. I know better than to mix metaphors but this subject matter has quite a few colloquial expressions. Burr under the saddle, chip on the shoulder, ants in your pants, ax to grind, something under your skin, and so forth. In down-to-earth terms, the burr is a grudge. An unforgiven action against you. An ruthless word spoken to you. An accusation thrown toward you. All of these can be the hub of an unhealed gash that has developed into a full blown grudge. This burr can cause a lot of difficulty for you and others if you don’t remove it.

Have you ever thought of the reality that you may be having a tough ride lately because of a burr under your saddle? Yep, a burr will cause the horse to buck. Here are some practical pointers concerning burrs:

1. A little pressure produces a big event. People with a burr under their saddle will start bucking with just a little pressure applied to them. That’s a fancy way of saying tiny things tick them off. Proverbs says,”Like wood kindles a fire a contentious man kindles strife.” If you have an unresolved grudge, life will present you with plenty of occasions to be reminded of it.

2. The ground is hard. Getting bucked off hurts. People with a burr under their saddle are beaten up folks. These purple skinned people pull away quickly when touched. Unfortunately, a lot of times, the folks that are there helping to break their fall can also end up getting shattered in the process.

3. The burr is not part of the horse itself. It is not obligatory equipment. Just get rid of it. You’ll have to look under the saddle but it will be worth your time to do so. It’s better to deal with a splinter now than to chance an amputated limb later. Deal with the life circumstances that can ripen into grudges if you possibly can.

If you just need the battle, go to the rodeo but give the persons around you a break. Doing business with your grudge (oops sorry!) your burr can help you and persons around you. As somebody said, “Unforgiveness is like a person drinking poison and waiting on someone else to die.” Yea, kind of foolish isn’t it?
