Why Don’t You Make The Decision To Gear Down And Enjoy Life?

What are you going to do when you get finished doing what you are doing? Hello, I’m Eddie Lawrence and this is a small article written to persuade you to speed up and slow down! Living your life in overdrive will cause you to burn out or blow up. Learn to gear down, bear down on the brakes and park it for a while.
We live is such fast paced times, you can bank on it…there’s always something else to be done. So, if you don’t slow down then you are always going to be in a mad. Slowwwww downnnnnn.
Our American way of life for the most part is behind on patience. Our convenience fast serve oriented lifestyles has taught us that waiting is for people who don’t know how to make things happen. Patience is still a good quality and waiting a necessity for us develop the character we need for harsh times. Perseverance and staying power are learned when we have to wait. As someone once said, “By perseverance the snail made it to the ark.” All this rush drives us at a exasperating pace, until we find ourselves sidelined wondering what in the world happened.
You may say, “I tried slowing down and even pulled over to smell the roses only to have a bee fly in my nose.” Well tell the bee to buzz off, that you’ve decided to slow down and stay awhile. Catch your breath and enjoy your wonderful God given life.
By slowing down, you will:
-Live a longer lasting life
-Live a stronger life
-Experience more out of the life you live
-Enjoy masses of little blessings you are running by each day
You may feel so absolutely overwhelmed that you don’t think you have any choice but to live life at full throttle. Running at full throttle burns more fuel and wears the ole engine out much sooner. Make the gear down decision right now. Don’t wait on heart problems to slow you down. Don’t wait on a wrecked marriage to slow you down. Don’t wait on a youngster with an absentee busy parent to slow you down. Slow down now. You will discover that the countryside is much more beautiful when you slow down.
Liivng out your life at the speed of sound will get you to the end of your life much more quickly. Yes you can destroy yourself by living an impatient, hurried, stress filled life. You must learn to slow down and have times when you relax, rest, and renew. Even Jesus, who accomplished more in a short time of time than anyone who ever lived took time to pull aside for rest and refreshing. So hurry up and slow down. As a pastor who spends a lot of time posting sermon outlines on the web, I just have to share a succinct sermon with you. Here are three quick — (oops, sorry!) – three short bits of advice to help you gear down.
1. Learn how to say “No” and say it. This is the only way to keep your calendar from being stuffed full and overflowing.
2. Get a calendar and plan for the number one priorities in your life. That means, time for God, your spouse, your kids and yourself.
3. Take several mini slow-down breaks all through the day. Seriously, it will make a great difference in your attitude, your health, and to the people around you if you will simply stop for a few moments a few times a day, chill out, relax, and think on your blessings. Try it! Of course you will have to slow down to give it a spin.
