Procrastination is a natural human tendency. I was a chronic procrastinator in college; often starting a paper and staying up all night the day it was due. I’d end up with a good grade but later on in life I realized it’s a heck of a lot easier and less stressful to get things out of the way earlier or do them in steps. Everyone works in different ways though so just do what works for you!

Yes. Most college students have problems with procrastination, especially when they have large workloads. As long as you are attending class, turning assignments in on time, and receiving satisfactory grades, don’t worry about it. Procrastination only becomes a problem if it is negatively impacting your grades. Once you begin missing too many classes, turning assignments in late or failing exams, come up with a plan of action to get yourself back on track. It can help to set a series of deadlines for major assignments. Keep a desk calendar that has all of your due dates listed on it and then come up with your own due dates for rough drafts, theses, library work, etc… You can be responsible and still have freetime.

Heck, procrastination is normal at ANY level!!! Ask anyone if they ever procrastinate at their jobs, or their housework. The answer is YES!!!!

The only difference is the degree of procrastination. With age & maturity, you become better able to recognize when you need to get started on tasks. In undergrad, it’s easy to procrastinate too long and only start when it’s too late.

But, short answer is that procrastination is normal any time, at any age!!!
