			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It appears that we are built to worry – it appears to be an integral part of our hard-wiring – it’s a major hurdle on our path to <a href='http://www.gurdy.net' target='_blank'>personal development</a>.  And, if we can’t find something to worry about, we’ll create something.  Some time back I had a client telephone me to say “Now I’m really worried!”  When I asked what he was actually worried about, he said “I’m worried because I’ve nothing to worry about!  You know the way something this good cannot last!”  Another exceptionally focused client who, like a lot of business people, is finding times a little challenging in the current environment, told me recently that not only is his wife a born worrier, she tries to drag him into her drama too.  “She asked me yesterday evening if I was worried.  I told her that I wasn’t, that, in fact, we’ve nothing to worry about and that business is turning the corner.  A little later, over a glass of wine, she continued ‘I know you, you can’t fool me, I know you’re worried!’”</p>
<p>What’s worry all about?  It is the product of the over-active imagination of the normal mind which, research indicates, is predisposed to dwelling on negative thoughts.  It is one of the key ways in which the conscious mind spends the day – while we’re actually supposed to be doing the productive things that will take us to where we want to go in life (assuming that we want to go anywhere exciting, given our propensity to think the worst!).   Even worse, worry pours our precious mental energy into what we don’t want to happen.  And, on the basis that this energetic universe of ours is responsive to where we invest our energy, we’re actually actively working to undermine ourselves.  That is what worry is all about.</p>
<p>But it gets worse.  When it comes to worry, the biggest crime is that we have actually lost that all-important resource that we most need to get on with bettering ourselves in life – our own vital energy.  As I’ve said already, worry misdirects our energy.  Effectively, it means that we don’t have enough energy to even do what we’re supposed to be actually doing in the here and now.  And, based on the fact that our universe is indeed responsive, we’re going to get little or nothing out of life if we put so little into actually living it.</p>
<p>Worry is simply an extreme form of useless thought.  The adult mind is plagued by useless thoughts, many of which can be distractive.  But worry is actually destructive – we’re destroying our own life. </p>
<p>And you will not <a href='http://www.gurdy.net' target='_blank'>stop worry</a> by fighting it.  Like trying to give up cigarettes (the more you think about not having one, the more you want one), the more you fight worry, the more it will plague you.  No – you have to stop worry by ignoring it.  Ignore it –  it will go away!   After all, what were you worrying about this day last year – I bet you that you’ve no idea!  How do you ignore the bad habit of a normal adult lifetime?  Throw yourself one hundred percent into what you actually should be doing now – you might even find that you’ll do it all the better. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For over 14 years, in my two-day workshop, I’ve asked my clients if they think that they’re perfect.   No-one answers “Yes”.    It’s pretty difficult to <a href='http://www.gurdy.net' target='_blank'>motivate yourself</a> if there are things about yourself that you don’t like.   And, of course, chances are that there are things that you don’t like about yourself that you’ve been meaning to change but never have.   After all, research shows that most people have the same New Year’s Resolutions from one year to the next!  And, as if that weren’t enough, people then read so-called self-help books and try to talk themselves into feeling good and being motivated.</p>
<p><a href='http://www.gurdy.net' target='_blank'>Self-affirmation</a> amounts to a waste of time.   Positive self-talk peppers the conscious mind with feel-good statements that don’t make the conscious mind feel good!   Because the conscious mind feels nothing – it just thinks – around fifty-thousand random thoughts every day.   And most of those random thoughts are either useless or self-destructive.    You’re barking up the wrong tree!</p>
<p>You’ve got to get in touch with your subconscious mind.   That’s where you’ll find your self-doubts and your misconceived self-perceptions.   Your subconscious uses those warped self-perceptions to dictate your everyday behaviour – your perceived strong points, your perceived weak points and their related self-defence mechanisms.   It’s your subconscious mind that was programmed with your view or yourself during your formative years.   Today, it’s your subconscious mind’s out of date self-view that creates your daily life.</p>
<p>Your subconscious mind, which is visual, took snapshots of the things that impressed you when you were young and impressionable.  Your snapshots are programs that run today to enable you behave automatically through what psychology calls automaticity.   Automaticity is wonderful when it comes to getting habitual repetitive tasks done without you having to pay them any attention.   Unfortunately your whole life is habitual and repetitive, your work colleagues and your nearest and dearest are so familiar to you that everything you do to them, for them and with them ends up being habitual and repetitive.   So, in fact, automaticity “enables” you do almost everything without thinking about it.   You don’t even have to bother to turn up!</p>
<p>Years of research confirms that you only put 1% of you into the here and now.   No wonder most people don’t love themselves – they don’t know themselves.   How could they, they’re not all there!</p>
<p>Therefore, to <a href='http://www.gurdy.net' target='_blank'>motivate yourself</a> you need to stop this automatic nonsense.   Start small – it’s easier.   Start doing little things differently and, sooner or later, you’ll start doing really important things mindfully too.   Tonight, brush your teeth with the hand with which you don’t habitually brush your teeth.   As a result you will be more “all there” than normal and you will have started to disrupt your repetitive pattern of normal mindless living.   This will drag more of your subconscious mind’s attention into the present, so that you’ll pay less attention to the snapshots that have been creating your life.</p>
<p>You don’t have to talk yourself into being motivated – the normal person isn’t listening anyway!   You simply have to be a little more present than normal – that’s all!   Then you’ll be more effective, more productive, more tuned it – about yourself and life.   Then, when you’re more turned on, more alert and more present, you have presence.   Presence will make you more impressive.  So, not only will you motivate yourself, you may well motivate a few other people too!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It’s bizarre the number of people who swear by the benefits of <a href='http://www.gurdy.net/Online-Personal-Development-Video-Seminars/2008-12_Does-Positive-Thinking-Work.html' target='_blank'>Positive Thinking</a> but have very little to show for it.  Of course, positive thinking is far better than negative thinking, but it is nevertheless just thinking – and most of the thinking that we do exercises our conscious mind, that small part of our mind that plays little or no part in the creation of our everyday lives.  Rather, it is our programmed subconscious mind that creates our automatic behaviour as a result of which our version of reality unfolds before our very eyes.   It is our subconscious that creates stress, anxiety and the fear of taking the brave and courageous decisions that we need to often take if we are, indeed, to follow up on our positive thinking.  Of course, the kind of decisions that I’m talking about are only “brave” or “courageous” to normal, crazy people.  </p>
<p>Even though positive thinking is better than the negative alternative, thinking stops doing.   Or worse, recent work in the US indicates that positive thinking has blinded otherwise well-informed business people from the obvious pitfalls of pursuing a certain course of action – senior figures in the banking world get a particular mention!   That aside, at very best, too much thinking is a dangerous thing.  </p>
<p>If you really wanted to pursue the route of <a href='http://www.gurdy.net' target='_blank'>Personal Development</a>, you would be far better of trying a little positive doing!  So, having prioritized the things that are truly important to your success and happiness, actually doing just the important things that need to be done to achieve your goals, to <a href='http://www.gurdy.net/Change-Your-Life.html' target='_blank'>Change Your Life</a> or, indeed, to play the perfect game of golf – if that is what turns you on!   If you have financial worries or your business is suffering as a result of the economic downturn, if you feel inadequate in certain business or social situations, if your relationship is in difficulties or if your health is deteriorating, if you hate your job or hate your life – you have got to take action.  By action I mean real action, not the normal automatic reaction that makes things worse rather than better and, indeed, not more of the same.  If you want something different in your business, career or life, you’ve got to do something different – thinking about it will not only get you nowhere, it may actually convince you to take no action at all.</p>
<p>But, how will you know what positive action needs to be taken, what doing needs to be done?  Well, you can’t do anything without a clear and present mind.  Too often we are paralysed for want of stepping back from the perceived mess in which we find ourselves, too often the normal mind is too muddled – and positive thinking may actually muddle it more.  To embark on the correct positive action, you need to take one step back from all your cares, worries and frustrations.  You need to take or make a few minutes each day to experience the reality of the here and now.  You need to come to your senses – you have five of them, it’s time that you used them.  In doing so, you will be more present which, in turn, means that you will have presence – the hallmark of all great positive doers.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are many ways in which to induce a tranquil, relaxed state of mind, in which the body is still, and the conscious mind is simply placed aside for a while as the subconscious mind assumes a more dominant role, and allows the therapeutic cognitive processes which are innate in all of us to become active.</p>
<p>This state of mind, known as the hypnotic state is very simply created by;<br />
- Focusing one’s attention.<br />
- Relaxing the body.<br />
- Allowing unnecessary thoughts to enter, then exit, without any rationalisation.</p>
<p>This process can be easily accomplished by the technique that follows. It is known as the “Eye Roll Technique’, and is a very old but powerful way of entering a safe therapeutic hypnotic trance. When in this relaxed state of mind, it is possible to offer oneself any positive suggestions or affirmations in order to bring about the changes which you desire. Examples of positive statements and affirmations are given further on.</p>
<p>THE TECHNIQUE.<br />
If possible, find yourself a quiet place and either sit down or lie down comfortably.<br />
Roll up your eyes, just as if you were trying to look at your eyebrows.<br />
Allow your eyelids to slowly close, and as you do so, take in a deep breath and hold it.</p>
<p>As you slowly exhale, allow your upturned eyes to return to their normal position.</p>
<p>As you finish exhaling, enjoy that gentle, floating sensation that you will experience.<br />
At the same time, imagine your right hand to be very light, like it has a childs helium balloon tied to it making it rise gently. You may be surprised at the ease by which your hand and arm seem to float up by themselves.<br />
This floating hand signal is a signal from your subconscious mind that you are entering a state of deep relaxation.</p>
<p>As you remain in this deeply relaxed, hypnotic state of mind, offer yourself any positive, therapeutic suggestions which you feel will help to bring about the changes you really want or need.<br />
Remain in this state for 10-20 minutes, that’s really all that’s needed.</p>
<p>You can repeat the process as many times a day as you like.</p>
<p>EXITING THE TRANCE STATE.<br />
Roll up your eyes behind your closed eyelids.<br />
Very slowly, allow your eyelids to open, and the eyes to focus.<br />
Make a tight fist with your right hand, and as you do, allow this light floating hand to drift down into a comfortable position. As it comes to rest, release the tight fist and gently stretch those fingers.……FINISHED !!!!</p>
<p>If necessary, the exit from the trance state can be accomplished any time by going through the steps listed above.</p>
<p>It may take you a little time to perfect the technique, especially if you are the ‘on the go all the time’ sort of person. Relaxation comes easier to some people than to others, so always bear this in mind.</p>
<p>Remember, if you want to make positive changes in your life, this relatively short use of your time can pay great dividends in the end. The beauty of it is that once you have practiced and mastered the technique, you will be able to enter the relaxed state much more easily and deeply.</p>
<p>Another point to remember is that everyone is capable of entering into a hypnotic state.<br />
But just as we are all different, so is the ease with which we enter into a hypnotic trance.<br />
Some will succeed on their first or second attempt, where as others may need many more attempts. It took me a week and a half, and about 15 attempts before I achieved a hypnotic state. The motto is—PERSERVERE. It may take time, but the rewards are well worth the effort.</p>

If you&#8217;ve had these dreams before, and I&#8217;m sure have, this only shows you the untapped innovative power you have lying within. So jot down those notes. <p>Find your own style. You can always tell a Van Gogh from a Matisse. You&#8217;ll know Hemingway wrote something by the choice of words on the paper. So it is the same with you. People will appreciate your innovation more because it is uniquely yours and that no one else would have thought of what you were thinking. Sometimes  human beings with talent are overtaken by the  folks who want it more. Think the hare and the tortoise.
