The world today requires us to make many critical decisions regarding personal and professional life, in a day. A businessman needs to make quick and efficient decisions about the company he leads. An investor needs to make decisions as to what firm is best to invest in at the given day and time. These are only a couple of examples of the kinds of quick decisions people sometimes need to make.

There was a time when people were told by their superiors that when you make such important decisions in life you need to leave your emotions out of the thought process. People were encouraged to think mechanically if you may, and let numbers and equations be the only factors that affect their decision.

However, a study on the past success of businessmen shows that it was that group of people who did best in life who took their emotions into account when making critical decisions. Thus we see the need to study this phenomenon called emotional intelligence or EQ.

Successful people are those that are able to deal well with their own emotions and who are able to recognize the emotions of others around them as well.

Since it is not possible to remove emotions from your life, you would do better to deal with them rather than try and suppress them. Suppressed emotions can only result in frustrated feelings. Even in business deals, you need to keep in mind that it is in fact people who are behind the work flow. When you understand people better you will be able to deal with them better, and therefore get a better work result out of them.

Every body knows that making the right contacts is a big part of being a successful businessman. When your social skills are right, you make contacts easily, and you social skills depend on your understanding of people’s emotions. No one wants to stay in touch with a rude or manner less person. Here we see emotional intelligence at work yet again. When we have a good level of EQ, we understand our own selves much better and therefore are at peace with our inner self as well as with other people around us.

Also, when you have the right balance of emotional intelligence understanding, you can handle stress like never before. Rather than get frustrated at situations beyond our control, we will begin to see on the brighter side of things always, and that is a healthy attitude that can only do you good in the long run.

Any way you look at it, you cannot run away from your emotions. Rather if you tried to harness the energy they create for a positive impact on your life, you will see life become better by the day.

IQ test means Intelligence Quotient, with the help of IQ tests intelligence test you can measure your ability of your work in any field, if you get high IQ level in IQ intelligence test that means there is chances of highly complex jobs.

IQ and intelligence increasing is one of those topics where most people think they don’t have a choice. People say intelligence is genetic, that you can’t increase it, that it’s all to do with education etc. But i say this to you now:

Society is full of lies.

And these lies which people say have limited the true potential and GENIUS that lies within us.
Just think for a moment, the geek in high school with the straight A’s and the medicine degree, what did he do to deserve his intelligence?

And think similarly too about the poor guy who worked and worked hard, only to end up with CCD grades and a life where “intelligence” and “analysis” isn’t his strength…what did he do to deserve that?

You see, your intelligence will and can increase if you first believe that you can. Then you need to intend that you will act to increase your intelligence. And then it will increase.

I want to teach you a quick method to increase your IQ. Act and use this method because it works!

I want to start explaining this technique by asking you a question that in turn reveals a great secret about increasing your intelligence.

The question is:

What do you think is the typical human concentration span? 10 minutes? 20 minutes? 40 minutes? 2 hours?

The answer will gobsmack you. The answer actually is 7 seconds! 7 seconds i hear you say! Yep, you read that right! Our average concentration span is actually only about 7 seconds. (range is between 4-11 since it depends on your intelligence level)

Scary huh? It might seem hard to believe but prove it to yourself right now so you know I’m telling the truth:

1. Look at a fine and distinct quality of an object (eg the colour, the edge, the shape)
2. Place your concentration on the object
3. Notice how your concentration on that quality wavers to another quality of the object, within seconds.

You see, you might be able to focus your attention on a task for 40 minutes+, but you cannot focus your concentration on a particular quality for more than a few seconds. Your concentration ability is the most fundamental “tool” which you have for all intellectual endeavours
And here lies a secret to increasing your intelligence.

Since your concentration span is so tiny, if you can find a technique to increase your concentration span, by even a second, it will lead to a huge increase in concentration ability overall. And this technique is what im about to reveal to you.

TECHNIQUE: PSEUDO TELEKINESIS (AVERAGE IQ GAIN= 5-15 POINTS)

1. Obtain a coin and place it in front of you

2. Make sure you are in a comfortable sitting place and in a location in which you will not be disturbed

3. Look at the coin from a distance of 30 to 40cm away and concentrate your full attention on the look of the coin. Try and concentrate on its shape more than its particular features. Do not touch the coin

4. Place your thoughts on the side-edge of the coin and try and force all your thoughts to be concentrated on that edge. By thoughts, i am NOT talking about images or words in your mind, just simply the force of your concentration on the coin.

5. You should imagine that the thoughts which you are exerting act as the force to make the coin move. Mentally push with your thoughts towards the edge of the coin. If the coin moves, replace it with a non-metallic object as your emphasis here is not real telekinesis

6. You must maintain as much as possible, your concentration on the shape of the coin by looking directly at it, but also by attempting to force your thoughts onto its edge.

7. If you are performing the technique correctly, you will become unaware of your surroundings. If you become distracted (which you will at first), turn your attention back to the coin and doggedly attempt to maintain it.

8. You can repeat for any object of your choice, but a small metal object is desirable since this attracts the brainwaves towards the focal point you are concentrating on, thus allowing them to become more precise.

Other Effects of This Technique
1. Increased listening ability
2. Increased mathematical ability
3. Ability to sustain more complex arguments
4. Increased ability to extract relevant information from sources
5. Increased ease of memorisation

You should easily get an extra 5-15 IQ points on your existing IQ score using this technique. Practice for 6 days out of 7.

IQ test means Intelligence Quotient, with the help of IQ tests intelligence test you can measure your ability of your work in any field, if you get high IQ level in IQ intelligence test that means there is chances of highly complex jobs.

I hear from lots people – clients and readers of my Personal Development Ezine – who tell me that they have become far calmer, more aware and focused as a result of the various little “mental exercises” that they practice to banish distraction and move themselves towards where they want their life to go. I often receive feedback from people who tell me that their lives have altered and that they have seen some of their objectives being achieved almost effortlessly. But others wonder why, if they are developing calm, clarity and presence of mind, nothing new and exciting seems to be happening in their lives.

In addressing this issue, I often refer to what a client from Northern Ireland said to me at the height of the so-called “Troubles”. He said “It must be that, for some people, doing their mental exercises is a bit like the way some of my fellow-countrymen go to Mass on a Sunday, kneel down and pray and, on a Monday, go out and shoot someone!” A well made point – if your efforts at personal development don’t make an impact in the ordinary course of your everyday life, there really is little or no point in fooling yourself into thinking that you’re on the road to the life that you want. Personal development isn’t supposed to make you feel good for just a few minutes each day, it’s supposed to change your life and if it isn’t doing that, then you’re doing something wrong.

As I write this, I’m expecting a client who is going to spend the next couple of days with me here in the Alps. He sent me an advance note – what he called his “agenda” – and, in that note, he asks how to bring the calm and focus that you get during meditation or mental exercising into the cut and thrust of everyday life. My answer to him will be simple. During the course of your everyday life, especially when the going gets tough, you’ve got to regularly stop yourself, notice state of mind and compare it with the calm and clarity that you get when you’re doing your personal development exercises. If you’re state of mind has drifted from your benchmark calm then you’re going to have to take a momentary step back from what’s going on, take a few deep breaths, and restore the mental calm and focus that will make the difference to your actions and personal effectiveness in the present moment.

Personal development isn’t personal development if you’re not seeing concrete results in your ordinary life – if your life is still all over the place, you’re just lulling yourself into an even more dangerous place where you might well make decisions or taking what you think is action that could make your life worse rather than better.

Many of my Personal Development clients, when we meet for the first time, sense that they’ve become stuck – maybe they feel that they’ve encountered that so-called glass ceiling, maybe they feel that they’re going through the motions or that, in some vague way, they’ve begun to feel that there must be more to life than the daily ritual that passes for living. Indeed, one individual said to me “Oh God, I don’t even get excited about our annual anymore, we’re going to the same place in August that we’ve been for the last ten years”.

Everything becomes stale in life unless you constantly keep reinventing and renewing. However, But it’s not your life that grinds to a shuddering halt, it’s you! More to the point, it’s actually your state of mind that becomes so numbed by the day to day routine that passes for living, that you simply sink into oblivion. The problem is that you stopped experiencing new things during your teenage years. The normal mind is wide open to all new experiences during early and mid childhood – that’s when our sponge-like capacity to take everything in means that we really were, indeed, taking everything in. By 11 or 12, we started closing up shop. By the end of adolescence, we were a done deal. Subsequently, except for truly monumental events in our lives – like the birth of a child, or a bereavement – we experience nothing new. We think we are experiencing, but actually what our subconscious mind is doing is interpreting everything on the basis of old stored knowledge and pigeonholing the new event accordingly. Effectively, the normal adult state of mind is completely unaware, numb, reactive, divorced from reality and simply going through the motions.

It is not life that grinds to a halt – the universe and our world and everything in it is reinventing itself again and again. Opportunities abound, adventures beckon, new people are waiting to change the course of your life (in the same way as once total strangers changed it in the past). But you’re numb, wrapped up in the apparent safety of a normality that is literally sucking you dry. Not only can you not see the opportunity and adventure of life – because you’re not looking or seeing – even if you could, you wouldn’t be up to taking the choice to leap onto life’s spectacular rollercoaster. That’s because, as adults, we’ve got used to not choosing. The normal adult rarely takes the decision to choose their own thoughts – preferring to let the subconscious do the choosing for them automatically.

So, if you’ve arrived at an crossroads or impasse, it’s up to you to take the right route, it’s up to you to choose, it’s up to you to kickstart your life in the direction that you want it to go. Not a single aspect of your life will ever change unless you make some changes yourself.

I chatting to a business owner recently who talked of his fears for his, how he dreaded what others might think of him if his business collapsed and, as a result, how he feared for his marriage too. Although he believed his problems to be unique (don’t we all), the conversation reminded me of many that I have had over the years. It reminded me of all the media stories – that “markets are gripped by fear”, people are “fearful for their jobs” and that people are “afraid they will lose their homes”. At times like this, perhaps it’s more than Personal Development that we need!

Of course, all these issues are, indeed, real problems. However, just how real are they? The author, Susan Jeffers has, for many years now, suggested that you “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway!” But fear is not real. Fear, like beauty, is in the mind of the beholder! Actually, fear is only a useless thought. Thoughts like fear disable us from taking action – so that we wind up reacting and making matters worse.

Many years back, during one of my Self Improvement Workshops, someone who has turned out to be a long-term client took exception to my saying that I simply couldn’t understand his statement that “after my Dad’s business failed, we had to sell our house and move into a rented flat. We couldn’t even afford heating oil that winter and we were all freezing and I was so upset that we were all freezing”. In a recent conversation with the same guy, he understood what I had been saying. Sure, he was freezing – a simple fact. But acknowledging the fact and then feeling sorry for yourself, wallowing in it, victim-like, are two completely different things. Feeling sorry for yourself disables your ability to appropriately do what needs to be done to overcome the problem.

In much the same way, clients have said to me that it’s all very well for me to point out the fact that we shouldn’t react to bad things happening, we shouldn’t be afraid of what might happen or shouldn’t fear the consequences of actions we really need to take – after all, I’m sitting high up in the French Alps enjoying life. But when they understand that I’ve been there – with a wife and three young children and $18.58 left in the bank (after we’d been done over by some unscrupulous “investors”) they take my point. What is the point in feeling sorry for yourself, what is the point of being afraid? What is the point of being paralysed by fear?

You’ve surrendered control if you’ve succumbed to fear. Your mind is controlling you. Decades research proves that, when we allow our minds to control us, we are unable to pay attention to the reality of the moment, unable to notice the potential for opportunity and completely unable to take real action. Research also points out that the average adult has 50,000 random thoughts each day, most of them useless, some of them, like “fear”, toxic.

Calm your mind. Come to your senses – you have five of them, use them to understand and experience what’s going on and how you can best act to create the kind of effortless success that you want. This is not some kind of positive mental attitude crap that I’m peddling. The research that I’ve already mentioned has determined that our subconscious minds create our version of so-called “reality”. Take control of your subconscious mind – so that you can take real action and completely change your life.

I’m constantly amazed at how often people say to me that they’re experiencing low self-esteem or that they’d like to improve their self-esteem. Mostly, I simply tell them to pull themselves together – “Get real” is what’s needed if you want to build self esteem – because low self esteem is only a problem for people who don’t know who they really are.

In actual fact, your self image is just that – an image or, more correctly, a collection of images, a little like the traditional family photo album. You learn who you think you are through what psychology terms “snapshot learning”. During your childhood, or formative years, when you were young and impressionable, the events that made you feel or good or bad about yourself were, quite literally, impressed upon your subconscious mind. Those events, and how you felt about yourself as a consequence, were “snapped” by your open, sponge-like, mind. After that, they settled into your subconscious mind where they remain to this day as your key reference points for how you behave and view yourself now, as an adult.

In other words, your self image is not real – it is the result of what others did for you or to you when you were young and impressionable. Now, given that psychological research confirms that the normal adult tends to dwell on the negative instead of the positive, if you believe yourself to be suffering from low self esteem it is nothing more than a trick of the subconscious mind. So your own personal development depends upon you, really, getting real. You’re going to have to dig deep to find the real you, beyond the resident thoughts that have given you an unreal impression of yourself and your true capabilities.

However, digging deep won’t call for major self-analysis – it doesn’t require you to wallow in the events of a past long gone – after all, these are events, irrelevant to the present, to which you should stop paying attention. On the contrary, you need to pay attention to what’s really happening today – the present moment, the here and now where life is lived. If you don’t, you’re going to miss the only show in town, your life is drifting slowly away. It is in the present moment that you find reality – and it is in the calm of a mind that is no longer obsessed with old snapshots that you will find the real you.

The real you simply doesn’t have the perceived weaknesses or, indeed, perceived strengths, that you thought were you. You don’t need self improvement because the real you has an inner strength that, when applied to the present moment, can achieve anything your heart desires. As I said, you come to know the real you in the peace and quiet of a calm, clear, focused mind. You focus your mind by coming to your senses – by using all five senses to fully experience and appreciate the present moment, free from the veil of useless resident thought that has, up to now, given you no more than an incorrect impression of the present moment. Therefore, if you really want to build self esteem, you really do have to get real in the only place that you’ll find reality – here and now.

Success at anything is all down to how you focus your mind. However, most people aren’t really sure what focus means – the most common mistake being that it means that you need to focus on your goals. Now, obviously, you do need to have a good idea of what you’re trying to achieve but if you keep focusing on those goals, you will be completely unfocused on what you have to do in the present moment.

In other words, when it comes to being successful at whatever your chosen goal, the focus required is in the here and now. Very simply put, focus means paying an abnormal amount of attention to what’s going on now. In rugby, for example, the world’s leading place-kickers have a goal of being part of a winning team – but focusing on that, when they’re about to take an important penalty kick, won’t help because that “notion” is not tangible enough to focus the mind. So, instead, you see world-beating place-kickers focusing on the present moment – turn on the sports channels on your TV and you’ll see all major sports stars, in whatever field, using a variety of techniques to enable them focus on the present moment. In rugby, you’ll see them focus on their breathing (a ten-thousand year old form of meditation beamed live into your sitting room!) to clear their mind of everything except just that moment and it’s all important task. Watch the great golfers and the rituals they perform before each shot – again designed to clear their mind of everything except the task in hand. The same goes for the great tennis players, particularly before they serve.

Paying abnormal attention to the present moment will change your life. I’ve deliberately used the word “abnormal” because years of research in the field of psychology proves that normal people pay little or no attention at all to the here and now. As a result, they are not focused on the task in hand and they achieve nothing out of the ordinary as a result. However, if you want to be abnormally successful, you’re going to have to behave abnormally yourself – you’re going to have to learn to pay attention like a sports star.

Paying abnormal attention involves clearing it of all the noise that distracts the normal mind. This clearing process is achieved by turning your attention to what is really and truly happening in just this moment – to the exclusion of everything else. That’s why paying attention to breathing can be so powerful – that’s why meditation, which develops your mental ability to pay attention to just this moment, can be so powerful and life changing. On the other hand, even taking five minutes every morning to close your eyes, notice the sounds around you and feel the way your body moves with each breath will be a major leap forward for any normally unfocused mind.
