What are some strategies against procrastination?

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I am the worst procrastinator this world has ever seen. I get all my homework done, but usually just about a class period before it's due becuase I don't do it at home. I am a senior in high school and I really don't want to senior slide, but I am having a really hard time doing my homework at home. I don't really have any motivation or eagerness to do it, frankly, because it sucks.

What are some strategies to not procrastinate?
How can I get my homework started if I'm not even motivated to do it?
Any other tips?

Thanks.

Hey Man,

Procrastination is a universal problem, everyone faces it. I had the same difficulty as you, and I hope these steps can really help in your development of focus, and procrastination deconstruction.
1. Set goals: goals are very important. They place that light into those nights when you can't put yourself to do your work.
This is what I like to do.
I want to become a doctor…
I need to get into medical school…
I need to do well on my MCAT…
I need to do well on my physics part of the MCAT…
I need physics practice to do well on my MCAT…
I need to take a physics course to do well on that MCAT…
I need to do these BLOODY physics questions if I ever want to reach my goal.

I know it sounds stupid, but it works.

2. Eliminate ALL possible distractions. TVs, computers, and games are a functioning brains worst enemy. Do whatever you can to construct any obstacles from your homework station and those evil tools of procrastination.

3. The "skip and go" method. Having troubles on focusing on your homework. What I learned is that your brain needs time to digest things, and can use a break. Whenever you feel like your losing focus, do one more question of that assigned homework, and move onto a new subject. Always have two subjects to study.

I hope this helps you, and good luck.
